Its time we loved ourselves, and loved others! We only know ourselves by the reflection we see of ourselves in another’s eyes. If children do not have anyone in their world who truly sees them, how are they to see themselves? Can you see the amazing gifts they brought into this world? The magic, courage, tenacity, intelligence, wit, beauty, and sweetness? If children do not have at least one person in their life who truly sees them then HOW ARE THEY SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHO THEY ARE?? I was blessed enough to have two people who saw me as a young girl. I knew who I was because of how they saw me. They both passed away before I hit my teen years and with them the me who I knew also faded. I no longer had anyone who saw me and so I couldn’t see myself either. I searched for many many lonely years before I found someone who could truly see me and the funny thing is, I didn’t believe him. I was so convinced that I was who the world told me I was. Who my teachers, friends, parents, bosses, neighbors and strangers told me I was. But none of them could see me beyond who they preferred I be. I didn’t fit even as much as I tried to conform in their worlds. I didn’t look the way they preferred I look, or speak the way they insisted I speak or think the way they wished I’d think. I was a behavioral glitch that just never fit. Children hold on to your courage, hold on to your hope. The eyes that can see you are designed to find you and all the beautiful gifts you brought into this world that only your magic can wield. Each of us are responsible for the children in our worlds. When you see their magic, let them know. Say it out loud so everyone can hear because they are too young to have heard it too many times and it feels good to be reminded that you’re magical and remember us adults are just children mostly grown up. Zeidman's story represents the life of many children in Haiti, who feel voiceless and experience every day, different types of mental and physical abuse from their family, teachers and peers, who pass their own frustration and hardships onto these children. In this film we dive into Zeidman’s life, to understand his powerlessness and suffering in the face of his abusers and yet finds the courage to take a stand. Ekip R3VOLVE AYITI ENGLISH The summer of 2021, inside R3VOLVE HAITI’s central hub, we hosted 80+ kids ranging in ages between 9 and 21. These youth, each representing a unique beacon of light in their community, joined hands and voices at our 2021 Summer Kids Camp “ImaginArt” during a very difficult summer for Haiti marked by the assassination of President Jovenel, a devastating earthquake, escalating gang violence and kidnappings, political instability and fuel shortages paralyzing most of the country … … Yet together in the mountains just north of Port Au Prince , we have created a safe place of healing, love and empowerment. The kids in our “Word Craft” and “Critical Thinking” classes were writing lyrics about loving one another for a more beautiful Haiti. Cool beats and catchy tunes could be heard coming out of the “Beat” and “Guitar” classes. Boys and girls in our “Videography” class were working to present their world through their eyes by creating shot lists and lining up the crew picked from amongst themselves to shoot the music video. Vocal cords warm ups and melodies were belted out of the “Vocal Technique” class and the “Dance” class team was hard at work choreographing and rehearsing behind closed doors. Ces jeunes, chacun représentant un phare de lumière unique dans leur communauté, ont uni leurs mains et leurs voix lors de notre camp d'été 2021 « ImaginArt » pendant un été très difficile pour Haïti marqué par l'assassinat du président Jovenel, un séisme dévastateur, une escalade de la violence des gangs et des kidnappings, l'instabilité politique et les pénuries de carburant paralysant la majeure partie du pays… … Pourtant, ensemble dans les montagnes juste au nord de Port Au Prince, nous avons créé un lieu sûr de guérison, d'amour et d'autonomisation. Les enfants de nos cours « Word Craft » et « Critical Thinking » écrivaient des paroles sur l'amour les uns des autres pour une Haïti plus belle. Des rythmes cool et des airs entraînants pouvaient être entendus dans les cours "Beat" et "Guitare". Les garçons et les filles de notre classe de « Vidéographie » travaillaient à présenter leur monde à travers leurs yeux en créant des listes de mis-en-scène et en alignant l'équipe choisie parmi eux pour tourner le clip vidéo. Des échauffements de cordes vocales et des mélodies s’echappaint de la classe « Technique vocale » et l'équipe de la classe « Danse » était à pied d'œuvre pour chorégraphier et répéter à huis clos. Today we celebrate the Dads who stand up and stand out inspiring all of us to rethink past cultural beliefs, gender norms and societal standards. Il y a un grand besoin d'aider les pères à être des pères dans des cultures et des économies qui sous-estiment le pouvoir d'un Père. Aujourd'hui, nous célébrons les papas qui se tiennent debout et se démarquent en nous inspirant tous à repenser les croyances culturelles, les normes de genre et les normes sociétales du passé.
